  • Results tab: worst runs first, with importance and dates (#160)

v0.13.0

October 12, 2026 · Release notes on GitHub

GitGrit now has a public REST API and a command-line tool, gitgrit. The MCP server is gone.

The gitgrit CLI

curl -fsSL https://gitgrit.dev/install.sh | sh
gitgrit auth login
  • One static binary for macOS and Linux (amd64 and arm64) and Windows (amd64). The installer also links it as the shorter ggr.
  • auth login opens your browser to sign in (OAuth 2 with PKCE). No token to copy.
  • Commands for workspaces, projects, health, branches, commits, standards and checks. Every command takes --json.
  • gitgrit check --wait runs your standards on a commit and exits non-zero when one fails, so it works as a CI gate. With --fail-under <score> it fails only when the score is below that number.
  • --host works with any GitGrit instance, including a self-hosted one.
  • gitgrit update upgrades in place; the CLI checks for a new version once a day.

Public API

  • REST API under /api/v1/ with an OpenAPI 3 spec at /api/v1/schema/ and browsable docs at /api/v1/docs/.
  • Workspace in the URL: /api/v1/workspaces/{id}/....
  • Covers projects, project and branch health, commits and their checks, running a check, and standards (list, create, edit, test, delete).

API tokens

  • Personal tokens (grit_pat_…), on your profile page. They act as you, in every workspace you belong to.
  • Workspace tokens (grit_ws_…), on the workspace settings page, for admins. They belong to the workspace, not a person, and fit CI/CD.

Project page and health

  • Health now counts only each standard's latest result on its home branch (the default branch unless its filter names another). Re-checking an old commit no longer moves the score.
  • The project page has three tabs: Overview, Results and Standards.
  • Results shows every branch and its commits with the checks each one ran. You can run or re-run a check on any commit.
  • Every run records the version of the standard it ran, so a failure can still be explained after the standard changes.
  • Deleting a standard archives it: it leaves every project, but its past results keep the code they ran.

Notification center

  • A bell in the navbar opens a side pane: Needs attention, recent activity and history.
  • You're told when runs can't be evaluated, standards fail, a score drops to critical, a Git connection breaks, or projects, members or standards change.

Fixes

  • Deleting a branch no longer runs every standard against it and fails with a 404.
  • install.sh retries stalled downloads instead of hanging.

Breaking changes

  • The MCP server and the Claude Code plugin are removed. Use the CLI or the API instead.
  • Existing API tokens are deleted by the upgrade. Create a personal or workspace token instead.
  • /api/setup/ and the Cursor, Cline and generic MCP setup guides are gone.
